2/13/17 Wise As Serpents, Gentle As Doves

“Before I come to the close of this letter, I feel compelled to warn you against something that has been a big problem in many other churches.  Be on the lookout for people who come into your midst and try to teach something other than what you know in your hearts to be true, or who seek to cause disruption among you instead of bringing harmony and peace.  Do not listen to such people, and stay far away from them, because they are not working for our Messiah, but for themselves.  They sweet talk their way into people’s trust, and then deceive them into believing their lies.  They, and their words, are most dangerous to those who would never seek to deceive others themselves, and therefore are more trusting of others.  You have become famous for your faith and your obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit.  I am glad of this, for you, but also wish to warn you, because this will make you more appealing to those who seek to divide us.  So be on your guard, do what you know is right, and don’t give in to what you know is evil.  Remember, the God of peace who we serve has promised that when His Son comes again He will crush Satan under His heel.  May His grace, and the grace of our Messiah be with you all.  Amen.”
