1/12/17 An A+ In Life Granted By Faith

“Moses wrote of the Law that whoever could do everything the Law commanded, perfectly, without failing once, would be granted eternal life in Heaven because of the perfect life he lived on earth.  This is what Israel is still striving for, but it is impossible for sinful humans to do it.  That is why Jesus came – to give us a way to be saved from the death penalty our sins carry without having to be perfect ourselves, but by faith in Him to provide the way for us.  We don’t have to go up to Heaven or down to Hades and bring Him back to earth to show us the way to be perfect, as many of my brothers and sisters in Israel believe, nor could we.  But Moses himself wrote of faith, saying that the Word of God is near to each of us, in our hearts and in our mouths.  It is this Word of God that Jesus came to teach us and that we now proclaim to the world in His Name.  If you speak aloud the belief that you hold to be true in your heart, that Jesus is the Messiah, who came to earth as a human being to live a perfect life, die to pay the penalty for the sins of each one of us, and come back to life again to conquer death once and for all, you will be saved from your sins and the death penalty they carry.  It is the belief of your heart that brings you close to God, and the willingness to state your beliefs publicly, before your peers, that confirms them and saves you from your sins.  As Isaiah wrote, ‘Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.’  And because Jesus came and died for all of us, there is now no difference between Jews and Gentiles.  Jesus is everyone’s Messiah and will answer anyone who calls His Name in faith.  As the prophet Joel wrote, ‘Whoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved.’”
