12/7/16 Abraham Is The Father Of Faithful Jews & Gentiles

“Abraham and David were both circumcised as a sign of the covenant God made between Himself and Abraham, and both forgiven for their sins because of their faith in God and His promises.  But what about those who are uncircumcised?  We have said that Abraham’s sins were forgiven because of his faith, but was that while he was circumcised or uncircumcised?  It was while he was still uncircumcised.  What does this mean for us?  Abraham was the forefather of all who live by faith in God, both the circumcised Jews and the uncircumcised Gentiles.  As I have mentioned before, circumcision, especially in Abraham’s case, is simply an outward symbol of the faith in one’s heart.  Circumcision by itself cannot take the place of faith, and therefore it cannot save anyone from the punishment for sins.  Without faith, circumcision is meaningless and pointless.”
