12/6/16 King David Was Also Saved By His Faith

“King David is another excellent example of a man who lived by faith in God.  God chose him to be king because David’s heart was turned toward God in everything he did.  David did a lot of good things in his life, but he was far from perfect; he even murdered a man after having an affair with the man’s wife!  David could never have hoped to be justified before God based on how well he kept the Law of Moses.  But because he put his faith in God, he was forgiven for all of his sins.  And the same is true for any of us, for anyone who puts his faith not in his own deeds, but in Jesus’ sacrifice on our behalf, to save him from the penalty for his sins.  David, in one of his Psalms, speaks of the incredible blessing God gives us in the free forgiveness of our sins.  ‘Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.’”

Romans 4:5-8, Psalm 32:1-2
