11/3/16 Give & You Will Be Repayed

“What I ask is not a commandment, because in this regard I have received no command from God.  But let it be a test of your faith and your love, and your desire to become more like our Messiah.  You know that Jesus has been the King of Heaven for all eternity past, but He gave up His riches and power to be born as a lowly human baby.  For us, He became poor, so that through His poverty we might gain His riches.  I would advise you to finish what you started a year ago, when Titus was with you, and show your love for our brothers and sisters in Jerusalem.  I know that when you began this work it was very dear to your hearts, and I hope that it remains so now.  In God’s eyes, it doesn’t matter what you have to give.  It only matters that your heart and mind are willing to give, and then God will provide the gift and all that you need.  I don’t mean to say that you should give everything you have so that others will receive what they need but you will be left deeper in debt.  But instead that right now, while you have more than what you need, you may give to help others, and when they have more than what they need, they may give to help you.  Then we will have a balance, and we will ensure that we care for each other.  This is the way that God gives to us.  Remember when the Israelites were wandering in the desert after escaping from Pharaoh in Egypt, God gave them manna to eat and instructed them that each family should gather just enough for themselves for one day, and when they did that, ‘he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.’”

2 Corinthians 8:8-15, Exodus 16:18
