9/7/16 Follow Local Custom, As Long As It Seems Right To Do So

“You must use your best judgment as to whether or not it will seem offensive to people for a woman to pray to God without covering her head.  In most cases, even those Gentiles who have never heard the Law of Moses forbid women to pray without a head covering, and believe this to be dishonorable, just as they view a man with long hair as dishonorable.  Long hair on a woman shows the glory that God gave to her in her creation, and also serves as a covering for her.  I know that there will be some among you who will say that we should not impose these restrictions on ourselves because it shows people that we are no different than they are, and are not, in fact, free as we say.  To these people, I say, follow where the Spirit leads you in this matter, because as believers, and as the body of Jesus, we ourselves do not have to abide by such things.”

1 Corinthians 11:13-16
