“Father Abraham knew My time on earth was coming, and he was overjoyed in this knowledge. And when My time here was drawing near, he saw this and was very glad,” Jesus tells the Pharisees. “You have seen Father Abraham!? You’re not even 50 years old! How can You say this?” the Pharisees demand. “I tell you the truth: before Abraham was, I AM!” Jesus booms. (‘Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.” Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’”’ Exodus 3:13-15). And hearing this from Jesus’ mouth, the Pharisees fly into a furious rage and start to grab stones to throw at Him and stone Him to death. “Blasphemer!” they cry, “You claim to be God Himself!” But Jesus calmly walks through the midst of them and leaves the Temple unharmed, disappearing from their view.
