9/3/15 Who Is Your Real Father? Who Do You Serve?

“Abraham’s descendants you may be, but you do not follow in Abraham’s footsteps of faith.  You are looking for a lawful way to put me to death because you do not believe – indeed, you fear – My words.  But I speak of what I know, from My Father.  And you speak of, and do, what you know from your father,” Jesus tells them.  “Abraham is our father!” they reply indignantly.  “If you followed Abraham as your father, you would not be looking for a way to kill Me, a man who has told you only the Truth of God!  You would do works that revealed your faith in God, as Abraham did.  You do not follow Abraham, you follow in the footsteps of the father of lies!” Jesus responds.  “We have never worshipped idols!  We are children of God!” they insist.  “If God was your Father, you would love Me, because I AM sent from Him and by Him, and all My words and deeds come from Him.  You don’t understand what I tell you because your father prevents you from listening to My words.  Satan is your father, and you want to do his will!  He is the father of lies, and a murderer from the beginning of Time!  You listen to the lies that he plants into your hearts, and when you spread those lies you are using his resources and doing his will.  You do not recognize the Truth when you see and hear it, because you belong to the father of lies, in whom no Truth abides.  Why don’t you believe My words if they are the Truth?  Who of you is able to convict Me of sinning?  Children of God hear and recognize and obey His words, but you do not, so you cannot be His,” Jesus declares.
