4/16/15 Sadness For Those Who Follow Their Own Way

Jesus looks around at the people gathered.  They are watching Him with rapt attention, hanging on His every word.  But the crowds are not as big now as they were a few months ago.  The novelty has worn off, and people have gone back to their old ways.  Saddened by this, He now addresses His followers, saying, “In the towns where most of My miracles have been accomplished – Chorazin, Bethsaida, even Capernaum – the people have turned back to their wicked ways.  Their hearts have not been turned to the things of Heaven.  I am grieved for these cities, because in the Day of Judgment their downfall will be great!  Heathen cities like Tyre and Sidon, and even Sodom of old, would have repented in great sorrow of their sins and changed their hearts after seeing the things that the people here have seen.  Chorazin, Bethsaida, Capernaum – your downfall on the Day of Judgment will be far worse than even Sodom’s.  My heart aches for you, because you will not turn to Me.”

Matthew 11:20-24, Luke 10:13-15
