A man in the back of the synagogue can’t take it anymore. He jumps to his feet and yells, “Why are You doing this, Jesus of Nazareth? We know who You are, You Holy One of God, and You can’t destroy us, our time has not yet come!” Jesus goes to the man quickly, and says in a firm voice, “Be quiet! Come out of him.” The man is possessed by an evil spirit. The spirit throws the man into a seizure, making him scream and thrash around on the floor. Then it comes out of him and the man is quiet. A buzz of whispers fills the synagogue as the people start to talk about what has just happened. “Who is this Man?” “What just happened?” “Did you see? The demon left him at His command!” “Is this of God, or…?” “But He speaks with such authority! He must be, don’t you think?” Soon, the entire region of Galilee is talking about this mysterious Man who speaks of the things of God as if He is, well, God’s own Son! But that couldn’t be, could it?
